Laura Lee is a Berlin-based songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and performer. She first gained international attention as one half of the Berlin indie rock band Gurr, with whom she won the 2018 Impala Award for Best European Indie Album of the Year. In January 2020, Laura Lee starred alongside Iris Berben in the ZDF film “Nicht tot zu kriegen” (directed by Nina Grosse), for which she composed two songs together with Andreya Casablanca. In 2020, Laura Lee launched her solo career under the name Laura Lee & the Jettes. After the release of her first album, she performed at the New Colossus Festival in New York, at SXSW in Austin, Texas, and as the opening act for the Beatsteaks. Laura Lee is a Keychange scholar, an initiative to help increase the visibility of women and underrepresented groups in the music industry, where she is involved as a mentor for young artists. Since August 2022, she has been the mother of a daughter and shows her everyday life back in the music industry in the documentary “6 Hours with Laura Lee” produced by Noisey.
